Meet Your 2016-2017 Peer Ministers

Each class elects a peer minister to represent them for the year.  Their roles include keeping the community active and creating communal events.  It's their responsibility to create stronger fraternal connections among the seminarians throughout the academic year.

Kevin "Wally" Ferrara | Senior PM

What are you looking forward to most this school year?

Getting to spend time with the guys, praying, and graduation

Favorite place on campus:

Palm court and or sitting in front of the IC.

RAs vs PMs. Nerf Wars. Who would win?

PMs... Duh....

In a push-up challenge, which priest would win?

None of them.

What advice you give to new seminarians?

Just be you and be it with all your might.

What is one thing you want to do for your hall/CAM?

Be there for everyone thru thick and thin.

What is your favorite Pokemon?

Groudon.

Benjamin Grey | Junior PM

What are you looking forward to most this school year?

Seeing the community form again this year.  As guys leave and new ones arrive, the community has a different flavor each year and it keeps things interesting.

Favorite place on campus:

Second floor lounge of Damen, good reading spot.

RAs vs PMs. Nerf Wars. Who would win?

Definitely PMs!  Number advantage (once we add the freshman) and better armed as well, cause let's be honest, has Malucha ever fired a Nerf gun in his life?

In a push-up challenge, which priest would win?

Fr. Dan of course…Pretty sure he’s concealing a hidden past as a body builder.

What advice you give to new seminarians?

Ask the older guys for help if you need it.  We’re not experts ourselves, but we’re happy to help with seminary stuff, classes or just general college life!

What is one thing you want to do for your hall/CAM?

Continue the tradition of all-seminary Smash Tournaments to promote fraternity and fun.

What is your favorite Pokemon?

Togepi.  Subconsciously worked his way into the design of the 4th floor arcade cabinets and has the ability to siphon the happiness of others.

Joseph Hinderer | Sophomore PM

What are you looking forward to most this school year?

Another year means another opportunity to learn, grow and have fun overall.

Favorite place on campus:

Lakefront, hands down. Lake Michigan is beautiful year-round and I'm truly blessed to be at a campus that has such a gorgeous view of it.

RAs vs PMs. Nerf Wars. Who would win?

PM's hands down. Not only do we have a number advantage but I mean come on the RAs wouldn't be as ruthless as we would.

In a push-up challenge, which priest would win?

Fr. Mark. Not just because he's the youngest but also because he regularly exercises.

What advice you give to new seminarians?

Don't worry. Trust in God. Seek Him and He will take care of you no matter how turbulent the storm.

What is one thing you want to do for your hall/CAM?

4th floor is the penthouse suite. We're the best floor and we need to maintain our superiority over the lesser floors. Remain rambunctious and active.

What is your favorite Pokemon?

Blastoise

Joshua Abraham | Freshmen PM

What are you looking forward to most this school year?

I am looking forward to getting to know this new environment for me in the city of Chicago. Illinois is certainly a long way from home in California but I'm very excited to explore the city with my new brothers at the seminary!

Favorite place on campus:

My favorite place on campus would have to be the IC because the view of the lake is breathtaking and is a great place to study.

RAs vs PMs. Nerf Wars. Who would win?

PM's would definitely win because we have Joe Hinderer, the not so gentle giant, and the RA's have Michael Malucha. Enough said.

In a push-up challenge, which priest would win?

I believe Father Mike would surely surprise everyone with his unbelievable strength, with the Lord's help, of course.

What advice you give to new seminarians?

Although I am a new seminarian already, if I had to give advice to someone newer, it would be to get to know the community. For one thing, all these people are your brothers, so you might as well treat them like it. In addition, there is no individual journey to Christ. We are called to walk together, and pick each other up when we fall. That is the importance of community!

What is one thing you want to do for your hall/CAM?

One thing I want to do for my class is plan some bonding events. I see my class as a band of brothers and I really want to make it feel like that. I, for sure, want to plan a date where we head out into the great downtown to get some awesome grub!

What is your favorite Pokemon?

Magikarp because a lot of people make fun of this pokemon for being the weakest and dumbest pokemon in the world of pokemon. Magikarp is definitely a Pokemon that is looked down upon, but if you train it long enough, it evolves into a BEAST Pokemon, GYARADOS. It just goes to show that it does not matter how you start, it's how you end up.
