Newly Ordained Homecoming
Last night was a blessed homecoming for three of our alums. Fr. Dominic Clemente, Fr. Michael Trail and Fr. Arturo Felix, OFM Conv., from the Saint Joseph College Seminary Class of 2012, returned home as newly ordained priests and joyously celebrated mass with us.
They were joined by Fr. Pawel Barwikowski, Fr. Miguel Flores, and Fr. Matthew Litak, all recently ordained priests of the Archdiocese of Chicago, in concelebrating our annual newly ordained mass.
Fr. Trail was the main celebrant, but Fr. Clemente delivered homily. While giving honest feedback to our seminarians about what the first 4 months of priesthood was like, Fr. Clemente emphasized that it was during his time at Saint Joseph College Seminary when he was taught how to pray. Fr. Clemente also took the opportunity to roast the Rector, causing great joy & laughter among our seminarians and the newly ordained.
Having a newly ordained mass each year allows our seminarians to connect with young priests & learn about their transition from seminary life to full time priestly ministry. It's a great occasion for our discerning men, and also a joyous time to welcome the newly ordained into our seminary. And for the alums, it's great to have them return & reminisce on their time here...even if things get a little goofy.
