A Heart Like Saint Joseph is Something Worth Imitating

It was no accident that Saint Joseph was led into the desert and told to bring with him his adoptive son. Joseph was led into the desert by the Holy Spirit. Much in the same way how Jesus was led into the desert by the Holy Spirit at the start of Lent. Jesus would again feel a desert as he was dying on the cross, feeling abandoned by nearly everybody in his life. The desert is not incidental to the life of Saint Joseph and to Jesus, in fact in the life of the Church. Rather it is a place where we can go to encounter God.

The story that brought me here is not extraordinary. I would consider myself as a normal 19 year-old that is just as human as you are who is pursuing my vocation. Having a vocation is not just for holy men and women who have a devout, prayerful life. We all have a vocation. We are all called to holiness and are created to respond to the call God has for us. Yet It is up to us to willingly discover what that call may be. We can be called to holy marriage, holy orders, religious life, generous single life in Christ, or to be a diocesan priest.
